Episode 94: Losing a Contest You Didn’t Know You Were Playing

Happy Monday, everyone! We are in the home stretch of the movie.

In minute 94, you lose! Well…Charlie and Grandpa Joe lose. David does his interpretation of Willy Wonka’s “good day” speech, and Grandpa Joe’s response. David finds translations for Wonka’s latin, and he and Jason try and parse what it means in the context of the film, if anything. David brings some knowledge about the history of printing copying, due to Wonka’s mention of a photostatic copy of the contract. We also talk about what Grandpa Joe’s retort to Wonka reveals about himself.

Thanks for listening!

Episode 92: Complete Lack of Responsibility 101

It’s Wednesday!

In minute 92, the Oompa Loompas finish their final song, and point out that books don’t have commercials. Wonka, Grandpa Joe and Charlie are back in their street clothes, and Wonka goes through his mail. He has already basically forgotten about the Bucket family, and is extremely nonchalant about the fates of the other kids. David discusses the issues that he has with the Oompa Loompa choreography, and how much it has made him cringe over the years. Wonka needs to get back to the Queen, and Grandpa Joe plots to kite Willy Wonka’s checks.

Episode 29: A Chunk of Change

Here’s a mid week sweet treat for you!

This minute we discuss the auction that started in the previous minute. How much are those chocolate bars going for? We take a look at how ridiculous those prices are in today’s numbers. Not that it ends up mattering, since the Queen drops by. In another part of the world, a man has been kidnapped. What does that have to do with this movie? Well…you’ll have to listen to find out.

See you back here on Friday!
