Episode 98: Henry Cavill’s Mustache

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

In minute 98, Charlie, Willy Wonka and Grandpa Joe break through the glass ceiling. Not that glass ceiling, unfortunately. As it breaks through the ceiling, the Wonkavator takes flight, and we get to see a high angle of the town of Nördlingen in Bavaria, Germany, which is standing in for the town that Charlie and Grandpa Joe live in. We also get a composite shot of the Wonkavator flying over the town, which is showing its age. Jason makes an off hand remark which leads to an extensive digression about hamsters, Scrabble and message boards. It doesn’t have anything to do with the movie…just go with it.

Episode 23: An Agent of the Man

It’s the middle of the week, and time for your sweet treat!

In minute 23, Mrs. Bucket tries to cheer Charlie up…by telling him that it’s nearly impossible that he would find a Golden Ticket. Also, she proves that, like Grandpa Joe, she really doesn’t understand statistics either. We discuss the world population in 1971, and we continue discussing how much desire counts in a contest based on random distribution.

Episode 22: Using Reverse Psychology on the Universe

Welcome to a new week of Everlasting Minute!

In minute 22, Jason struggles with one of Charlie’s turns of phrases. Charlie sits on a pile of other people’s dirty laundry, which kind of skeeves David out. We figure out what job is *not* in Charlie’s future, and Charlie shows his frustration with his lot in life.

Episode 16: Wonkalytics

Welcome back to Everlasting Minute!

We are starting the week off with a statistical analysis of how likely it is for Charlie to find a Golden Ticket, and weighing whether or not desire matters in cases of random distribution. Also, David screws up a very easy metaphor. Grandpa Joe throws fuel on the fire…not water, David. Also, Diana Sowle kills it in this episode, and we briefly meet another child who will become important.
