Episode 52: John Ratzenberger is Rachmaninoff?

Happy Monday everyone!

Todd Hartsell is back for another week of chocolatey goodness. In minute 52, David derisively responds to a comment that Mrs. Teevee makes. Wonka responds to a comment by Mr. Salt a little less derisively. Todd waxes rhapsodic about film making techniques of the past. The adults in this scene are being a bunch of Debbie Downers, which Todd points out. Also, David does funny voices, and, surprise, he screws up again.

We’ll see you back here on Wednesday!

Episode 51: Dodo Denney Is Knocking It Out of the Park

It’s FRIDAY!

Todd Hartsell is back for another episode. In minute 51, David consistently gets fooled by the optical illusion that is the small black and white room. Todd remembers the unsettling feeling of seeing it as a child, and David admits that there is a very claustrophobic feel to this minute. Todd talks about the way the scene is shot, and how it almost makes the kids disappear.

David always thinks the back wall is visible in this shot. It’s not.

Episode 43: Fish Faces and Badgers

Happy Memorial Day to our US listeners!

It’s a new week, and with us, we have a guest! Heidi Bennett joins us to discuss minute 43. In this minute, Grandpa Joe gets a small moment for Jack Albertson to flex his dramatic acting muscles…while still wearing a terribly dirty night shirt. We learn that Mike Teevee has a friend named Fish Face. Also, David continues to think the worst of Grandpa Joe. We also have a conversation about how some of the kids “flaws” are exacerbated by their parents. Also, Jason compares the scene in this minute to public executions.
