Happy Friday, everyone!

Todd Hartsell is back with us, continuing to dissect “Pure Imagination”. David points out that Mr. Salt is in a state of bewilderment for a large portion of this minute. Todd gives us some more music theory lessons, and gives us a bit of sage advice.

Episode 53: Music Theory with Todd

It’s the middle of the week!

Todd Hartsell is back discussing the minutes that he was looking forward to the most. In minute 53, we start what is, arguably, the most famous song in the movie. We discuss the chocolate room, and the reactions of the actors to the chocolate room. Todd also notices a nod to one of the most classic films in the history of the medium.

Episode 52: John Ratzenberger is Rachmaninoff?

Happy Monday everyone!

Todd Hartsell is back for another week of chocolatey goodness. In minute 52, David derisively responds to a comment that Mrs. Teevee makes. Wonka responds to a comment by Mr. Salt a little less derisively. Todd waxes rhapsodic about film making techniques of the past. The adults in this scene are being a bunch of Debbie Downers, which Todd points out. Also, David does funny voices, and, surprise, he screws up again.

We’ll see you back here on Wednesday!

Episode 41: R.I.P. Chuckles

Welcome to the middle of the week!

In minute 41, Grandpa Joe continues to sing while bounicing off walls, throwing clothes on the floor, and never really using the cane that he had Charlie get him. We have a discussion about Grandpa Joe’s assertion that he is “slap in the lap of luxury.” David discusses Peter Ostrum’s singing, and whether or not his vocals should have been dubbed. Also, what would’ve happened if the ticket had not allowed an additional guest to come along?

We’ll see you back here on Friday.

Episode 40: How Many Spiders Are In These Slippers?

Welcome to a new week!

In Minute 40, Grandpa Joe sings “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket”, and starts to wander around the room. We try and break down exactly where Joe’s perspective is coming from in the lyrics of this song. We have a lot of problems with his selfishness (and hyperbole). Jason points out that after 20 years of non-use, Grandpa Joe’s slippers, which he demands, probably have spiders living in them.

See you back here on Wednesday!
